Titanfall for PC

Titanfall for PC

Many games have been promoted by their creators to generate a pre-rental boom. Titanfall is one such game, hailed as the jewel in the gaming crown of 2014. In this review, the good, the bad, and the ugly will be discussed and evaluated.

Titanfall Review: Good

Titanfall's outstanding positive feature is the graphics. They are the most advanced and then some. It's fair to say that the PC version of the game has some of the most beautiful, realistic and intense graphics ever seen in a PC game. This is amazing in every detail, but especially in the rendering of shadows, smoke, facial details, water and fire effects.

Gamers will need to play on a relatively powerful computer to reap these graphical benefits, but even gamers with computers that barely meet the minimum requirements will notice some of the beauty.

The game itself is also very impressive. Running along walls, the variety of weapons, and the ability to get in and control a really cool mech are plus points. However, it would be nice to have at least some sort of tutorial mode or practice arena for new players to learn how to play before being "baptized by fire" in the online arena.

Titanfall Review: The Bad

Unfortunately, the new PC version will have bugs and connectivity issues. Review sites are often full of complaints about "server not found" messages or hacking issues. While this may be taken for granted these days, it still angers a lot of players. Another big hurdle is that the PC version of Titanfall requires Origin to play.

Titanfall Review: Ugly

The matchmaking system is without a doubt the game's biggest flaw. This is emphasized by many message boards full of frustrated players. To fight well online, teams must be even. Unfortunately, the randomness of Titanfall's system is ridiculous, and young players could end up fighting an enemy team made up entirely of the best players on a rookie team.

For a game that only offers 6v6 online battles, the matchmaking system should be a top priority. For some reason this system is unforgivably broken, which is a shame.

Score: 6.5

This could be so much better with just minor changes. Maybe "Titanfall 2" will fix those problems.
